Photo Walks

Capture the Moment, Connect with the Present
Our Photo Walks project combines creativity and movement, inviting older adults to explore their surroundings through the art of photography. Together, we walk through beautiful outdoor spaces, capturing moments that inspire, all while building friendships and enjoying the health benefits of gentle exercise.

What We Do
In each session, participants take cameras or smartphones and join guided photo walks through scenic locations like the Maroochy Wetlands and Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. These walks encourage everyone to slow down, observe their environment, and discover new perspectives—all while learning the basics of photography in a fun, relaxed setting.

Why Photo Walks?

Creative Expression: Photography offers a new way to see the world, encouraging mindfulness and appreciation for beauty in everyday life.

Enhanced Physical Activity: Walking through nature helps improve mobility, strength, and overall wellness, at a pace that accommodates everyone.

Meaningful Social Connections: Each walk is an opportunity to share stories, perspectives, and moments, creating a sense of community and belonging.

The Positive Impact
Our participants often share how these walks help them see the world with fresh eyes. As one participant put it, “These walks were an avenue to better health, and I’m the most observant I’ve ever been.” Photo Walks allow participants to explore, create, and connect, enriching their lives in multiple ways.
